Six Treatment Options for Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a common condition in which patches of skin become darker than the surrounding area. Age spots, freckles, and melasma are all examples. Hyperpigmentation is usually harmless, but some people find it embarrassing. Fortunately, there are many treatment options available at our office.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are solutions that are used to exfoliate the skin. They come in different formulas and strengths ranging from mild peels that remove only the epidermis to stronger peels that remove multiple layers.
Melasma Peel
The melasma peel is specifically formulated to treat people with melasma and other conditions that cause uneven skin coloring. The peel slowly works through the skin and both remove pigment cells on the surface and suppresses pigment cells in the deeper layers of the skin. While many patients get the desired results after just one treatment, others need multiple monthly treatments.
HydraFacial MD
The HydraFacial MD hydrates the skin, as well as exfoliates it. It is a technology with a handheld device that produces a vortex-like suction that removes dead skin cells. It also temporarily opens pores, so it can more easily remove various impurities like those that cause acne. The device also delivers a serum into the skin to hydrate and rejuvenate it.
Micro-Needling
Micro-needling or collagen induction therapy involves creating micro-channels in the skin that stimulate collagen production and the healing process. In addition to reducing hyperpigmentation, microneedling can be used to soften scars, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, and make pores smaller.
Forever Young BBL
Forever Young BBL is a technology that produces broadband light that heats the skin and stimulates collagen production. It also causes an even mixing of pigment cells and, thus, gives the client a more even skin tone.
Fraxel Laser Resurfacing
This treatment works a bit like micro-needling, for the laser emits discreet beams that create micro-channels in the treatment site to stimulate the healing process.
